From a Catholic to a Christian

I had the pleasure of sitting with my friend over lunch, and for privacy purposes, we are going to call her AC. 

AC and I have had the pleasure of getting to know each over these last few months, and we have a lot in common. AC shared with me that she has been coming to our church for about 3 months when she really decided to step in her path with Christ. She recently got baptized after making a decision that her walk begins now. Here is her story:

Growing up, AC was raised Catholic. But when she was in the religion, she never felt like she never knew much about the Lord, his word, and what the bible was saying. She was stating that during her time in the church, she never learned how to interpret the bible for herself.  AC was sharing with me that she would try to read it on her own, but was left confused and frustrated because she did not understand it, and never knew what to take away from the scripture. Her friend had invited her to her christian church, and when she went she really enjoyed it and ended up feeling the Lords calling while there. However, due to time and circumstance, she strayed away and did not return for a couple years.

During her time in college, she was partying a lot, and partaking in the lifestyle that she felt like everyone was in at the time. She said she drank because she just felt it was convenient, and was part of almost every activity she did with her friends. When she was in college, she met a man, and she fell in love with him.

During her time dating this man, their relationship was comparable to the world’s expectations of love. They were living together, sleeping together, and partying together. Even though she loved him, she felt there was more for her than what she was doing.

AC always liked the idea of christianity, because it taught you how to have personal relationships with the Lord, and it gives you insight into how to study the bible for yourself. When she was invited to the christian church again by a friend, she agreed to go back. She felt moved by the music, the message, and the purpose. During that same service, she felt that the Lord was calling out to her, and she made the decision to walk in her faith with the Lord. When the service called for it, she stood up as one of the renewed, and publicly declared her love and dedication to God.

She knew that she needed to end things with her boyfriend, because they wanted different things out of life. When she broke it off, she continued to pray for him, and hopes he finds his way back to his own faith, as he grew up christian. The next day after ending things, she went to the young adults at the same church she rededicated herself to. She had been attending the young adults group for a couple months, and that is where she met me.

Since dedicating herself back to the Lord, she feels the holy spirit inside her. She is renewed, washed away from her past, and walking in the light of purpose. She finally feels home, and knows what it means to be overcome with the love of the Lord. She wanted to share her testimony with me, and allowed me to share it on my blog so that others can learn from her story, and hopefully relate to it in some way. She wants you to know that if you are feeling lost and don’t know which way is up, the Lord is always here for you and is waiting to bring you home.
